Manjal is an ode to tradition & togetherness in the best way possible.
Growing up in a household that had a kitchen which was open and accessible to everyone, pioneering several dishes and a strong urge to feed everyone in passing, Manjal has the right foundation.
Soundarachi, at the mere age of nine learnt how to cook from Lakshmiachi her great, great, grandmother otherwise known as the woman who adorned the village with delicacies to remember.
Despite her blindness, she had a vision in humanity.
A vision so bright that she could feed a village.
During the smallpox endemic, everyone would bathe themselves in Manjal, an antiseptic. The very manjal that can be used in food or seen as an auspicious mark for the beginning of something.
Till date, the manjal is grounded at home with a mortar and pestle, Mr. Sarvanan bears witness to this, the grandson of Soundarachi and a key promoter for this establishment.
Realizing the wondrous act of feeding people, behold, our beloved homage to family and food.
Manjal is for everyone! Right from our soups to our sweets. There is something for each and every person.
Bringing chettinad food to everyone, giving you a sense of a home away from home.
Manjal is no stranger to gatherings, be it large or small, with friends or families or friends and families.
